Red Dome Blanketflower

Gaillardia pinnatifida
Red-dome blanket-flower or yellow gaillardia is a slender-stalked perennial, reaching an unbranched height of 2 ft. Pinnately divided leaves grow on the lower portion of the plant. The flower heads are up to 2 in. across and made up of yellow, three-cleft ray flowers surrounding a purplish-red sphere of disk flowers. The yellow rays are purple-veined on their undersides and sometimes fade to pale red near their bases. (Photo: Dusty Reins)
